Hi Christopher, you analysis is pretty spot on but I feel it discludes the point of adaptive Intelligence which data scientists since the start of their career have been doing as we have new tools coming every year or so thus skill development is centre of being a data Scientist plus this field will change like every other fields and further create new ones like we have multiple fields of Deep Learning, data governance and Machine Learning, business Analytics already and they will create even more fields thus data Science I feel will diversify even more like you said about "New Data" but core concept of knowing how to implement computational statistical models for business needs and create business profitability will always be essential to know by data scientists which is what will always give them the edge compared to other tech professionals as they can translate all technology infrastructure for business settings. Whilst other professional can only do one of the two with their time constraints and capacity of know how.
